Medical management is traditionally defined as a collaborative practice involving the coordination of information technology (IT) and medical advisors to improve the quality and outcomes of the health care being provided.
That seems pretty straightforward, but the reality is that in today’s marketplace, the term can mean different things to different companies. Various interpretations can range from true utilization management to the “gatekeeper” model, to different levels of support and service in between.
